Each year in the spring, students in charter schools are tested along with their regular public school peers across the state. The spring testing consists of two tests:
The SAT is a nationally normed test that compares Hawaii's student performance to same age peers across the nation. Hawaii State Assessment (HSA): Standards Proficiency On February 9, 2003, the Board of Education set the proficiency baseline for Hawaii's public schools. Schools were challenged to have at least 10% of students scoring proficient on the math portions of the Hawaii State Assessment and 30% on the reading portion. Schools that did not meet this proficiency rating did not meet their Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as decreed by No Child Left Behind. This goal was set for testing years 2002,2003 and 2004. For the next three testing years, 2005 - 2007, schools are challenged to have at least 28% of students proficient in MATH and 44% proficient in READING as determined on the HSA. It should be noted that Hawaii's Standards are among the nation's most rigorous which challenges many schools. Testing: SAT / HCPs Results Summary No
