6th Grade Graduation

On June 8th, 2004 we said a tearful good-bye to our twentyone 6th graders. These students had been with us for three years, starting as fourth graders back in August of 2001. Nine of our 6th graders will attend West Hawaii Explorations Academy Public Charter School. WHEA opened its doors to 7th graders starting August 2004. The remaining 6th graders will attend Kealakehe Intermediate, Konawaena Middle School, Parker School or be homeschooled. They were a terrific group of students and we will always remember them. We hope they come back and visit us often!

Mrs. Hiro and a gang of happy graduates gather outside of Calvary Church where the graduation was held at sunset.

Graduates lined up under the balloon arch, ready to march down the aisle.

Students and the audience sang "We're On Our Way" from the Brother Bear Album as students proceeded down the aisle to their seats on stage.

Gifts for the graduates included a special hula performed by 2nd, third and fourth graders. The girls choreographed their own hula to the song, "You Are My Hero." The Hula was followed by a Slide Show Presentation tilted "Memories" which featured each graduate and highlighted their years at Innovations via a photo essay.

Graduates are congratulated by Innovations' Director, Barbara Woerner, as the graduation committee (standing) looks on. The graduation committee met as volunteers during Interest Groups to plan the evening's events and create the gift baskets for the graduates. Mahalo to Kanai', Bruce, Niki, Mahina, and Emi and their graduation advisor, Kanani, for all the thought and care that went into the evening celebration.

For some, thoughts of leaving brought tears and reflection about the journey that was just beginning.
Graduates enjoyed watching the Memories Slide Show Presentation - featuring each graduate.

Congratulations Graduates!
