|
|
The Department of Education and Frito-Lay of Hawaii honored Hawaii's exemplary public schools at the Hawaii Distinguished Schools Program Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa on November 14, 2006. The program honors elementary and secondary schools that make significant progress in narrowing achievement gaps of their students or whose students achieve at the highest levels. Innovations was honored in three out of four categories: In Recognition of Continuous Progress, Distinguished Achievement, and 2006 Hawaii Distinguished Schools. The school received a banner and check for $500. Two students and three teachers represented Innovations' students and staff at the luncheon. Prior to lunch, the students took a tour of the hotel grounds and saw many exotic animals: penguins, ducks, carp, parrots, flamingos, king fisher, turtles, and a variety of fish. Highlights of the trip for the students: plane ride, escalator rides, bus ride, hotel tour, ono food, photo shoots with Tiger Ted and receiving our school banner. |
